and another buildreport from me
it's my first Studio 27 kit and the first resing kit I ever build. I'm also building a 1/12 934 but had to start a S27 anyway. Heard so many good and bad things that I really wanted to try one...and I love the old M@r!b*r* Macs.
now here we got...
the usual S27 kits, resind and a lot of metal. resin casting is amazing, nearly no flash and bubbles
decals are perfect so is the etching
ok, not everything is perfect, these metalblocks will not be used !
these two parts don't fit to well. I don't understand why it's not cast in one part !?!...I used heavy tools, a benshgrinder to remove around 1mm from every side of the metal part
the enginge needed a lot of pressure to make it fit all together
well, the fit of parts is not perfect here, so a little platicard is neede to extend the fin
the front suspension has to be cut from the middle part because I wanted to glue that to the underbody and "putty" it in to have one piece
another problem. I hated the look of the "plug-in" suspension...not good
ok let's make a cover for the front suspension...
now everything is covered with putty including the part I cut from the front suspension (left)
now that is looking much better, it looks like the upper bodypart covers the suspension..I like it
most of the filling and sanding is done....I neede some very coarse paper ta get it all to level up. But I'm sure the first layers of filler will show more imperfections.
so far I really like the feeling of resinmodels, stay tuned for more.
I have a few questions, well I guess I found the answers in abook but maybe you know better.
-the support of the rearwing is that aluminium color ?
-does the upper body cover behind the driver bend inwards . I only have one pictures where it looks a little bit like it does, but only on the C models the othe M29 do have straight sides
more to come...

Impressive start.
I'll be following this closely as I have several S27 kits lying around here.

Very very nice start !
I understand now more your concern about te plugged suspension. Not easy to fix, but you did it very well.
I'll be watching your wip with a lot of interest as I have also this car in my "to do" pile....

daniel....love these kits, lots of work, which is what i like...the DX2O--..type with all metal bodys are fantastic stuff..some need work(bending)to fit and line up,the metal bodys our thick and need to be dug out and thinned up like 43mike does with his metal 1/43 cars......anyway will follow as you always do great work!..joe

Re: Studio 27, McLaren M29C...build
I have a little problem finding picutres of the C version of the M29...I really like to see how the rearbrake cooling works...I looks like a hose that is connected to an "air collector" on top of the brakes whish goes down and is connected to the rear of the caliper ?!?
so please, if someone has pictures of the 29C, I really love to see them
and I also have the feeling that I need to "bash" an FW 07 for some suspension/brake and engine parts

Re: Studio 27, McLaren M29C...build
That was exactly the system which was used by the Lotus 80. It had "noses" on the sidepods in front of the rear wheels to collect air and feed that through a hose to the center of the inboard mounted rear brakes.daniel wrote:... looks like a hose that is connected to an "air collector" on top of the brakes whish goes down and is connected to the rear of the caliper ?!?
Don't know the M29C system, though...
Nice modeling efforts, btw.
Best wishes,
Steffen

Really nice start Daniel. I'm sure this will be a great looking model by the time you've worked it over.
