AAW Racing Surtees TS16

Finished this 1/43 This Way Up kit of AAW Racing's Surtees TS16 in february '08. The model represents the customer Surtees driven by the first finnish F1 driver Leo Kinnunen. His only GP start was the swedish GP in 1974 at Anderstorp. The poor Surtees lasted only 8 laps, but it still is the first part of finnish F1 history

This Way Up has done a great job with this kit as I didn't find anything to complain about. The quality is in '90s Tameo level.

The real thing. The gold colour in the photo looks too deep or too gold. I've seen the real car in a museum and the shade was chosen according to my eye... Notice the stylish clothing on the mechanics...

Looks very good. Somehow I like that TS-16 - surely because of the old Matchbox 1:32 kit

IIRC that driver in that race is the last time an openface helmet was used in F1!

Beautiful. I love the kits and subjects that This Way Up are making. I have started work on the blue Surtees TS16 of Jose Carlos Pace. I hope it looks as good as yours when I am finished.
