Lotus 49, Jim Clark 1968 SA GP (MFH 1/20)
Hey all,
Here is my recently completed 1/20 MFH Lotus 49 build, total build time was around 3 months at a fairly relaxed pace, I made many modifications and additions to what is already a pretty fun and well designed kit to build. I have a full build write up done, PM me for more details and where to find it
Here is a quick rundown of the modifications:
- Cockpit dash wired up with turned dials and glass covers
- Cockpit interior fully riveted and turned bolts added
- Steering wheel corrected as per reference
- Front end hydraulic lines added
- Car fully riveted
- Steering rack and arms redone with RB Motion rod ends and steering linkages
- Brake lines added all around
- Wiring added to the front end for temp gauges
- Wheels replaced with Ebbro tyres and Scale-Details turned metal rims, modifications made to ensure correct fitment
- Turned bolts added to lots of engine components
- Electrical box between intake trumpets heavily detailed and modified with turned parts, scratchbuilt connectors and wiring
- Wiring and plumbing added for the starter motor
Hey all! I managed to find some time to take some photos which are a fairer representation of the actual colours etc

Analyzing your wonderful model you can realize how simple und incorrect the big scale 1/12 Tamiya Lotus is. Super and clean finished car. The Lotus green seems tob a little big darker?

Brilliant, you've done a superb build, it sits very true also - wheels all look perfectly balanced and in line, not always easy to acheive especially with this type of kit.
Great Job.
Great Job.
