M23 detail photos

Post by DiemenRacer »

Hi This link has a nice article on Hulme's M23 and lots of photos of the restored car. I am not sure if this has been posted before so please forgive me if it has.

An excellent restoration, and as Allan says, pure gold in terms of reference. However, a note of caution, the fuel pump drive is not appropriate to the period of this particular (1973) car and while accurately described for what you see, appears to be a hybrid setup of much later vintage.

A very useful link indeed DeimenRacer, thank you.

The following link to the Atlas Nostalgia website discusses other details of the M23 car shown on the Brit Race Car web site:

Forum members may find this interesting.

Like others I would also recommend caution when using the images in the article as they are from a restored car that is used competitively and as such has non-period features some of which have already been identified in earlier posts.

I would also add to the list:
• The use of the air starter that didn’t come into use until 1976 which was supposed to allow for a much smaller battery but the photographs show a conventionally sized battery mounted in the front sub-frame and
• I am not convinced about the tapered style of front wings extending to the leading edge of the nose in 1973 but they may have done so the following season.
