JPS Lotus 78 fuel system

Post by Paul_OFarrell »

Hi All,

I downloaded some pics from the F1M gallery recently, and I need to know if the round object indicated by the green arrow is a fuel filter or fuel pump?
I'm unsure who owns this picture but I offer my humble thanks for putting it in the gallery. If there are more detailed pics of the fuel re-filling area (under the roll-hoop) I'd like to see them, as I'm keen to try scratchbuilding this for my current project.

Thanks and regards,
Paul

Thanks Chongman,

Any chance of some info covering the fuel re-filling system from your Tyrrell P34 project?

Cheers,
Paul.

Sorry mate, so far I only have the fuel filter figured out :) I'm working on improvements to the kit filter now, making a proper mount and in/out fittings for it. I have a nice picture of the filter and will post it here for you asap!

Hi,
hope these drawings I made could help you.
Lotus 78 system as used in the middle of 1977. The car in the pictures you posted is a restored one with different tank layout: the collector sits in the middle fuel tank and aux pump has moved under roll bar, but the system is probably the same. Look at Tamiya Lotus 78 instructions' pictures for further infos about original system.
The red lines in the drawing are flex hoses/tubes.

And here's Tyrrell P34 system (maybe useful for chongman )

Let me know if there are any questions about them,
bye
