Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
Here is an update on the troublesome Revell Ferrari F2002.
I have now hopefully got most of the fitment issues with this kit sorted and have been able to move forward, painting the front chassis in zero paints F2002 red and joining that to the floor section and at the same time positioning the fuel tank and engine.
The seat fits without any issues and the wheel and decals provided are of a good standard and level of detail. I also added a water pipe and electrical cable.
The front suspension also went together without any major issues, with the detail set parts easily replacing the standard brake ducts, hubs and discs.
I have now been able to start adding a little extra detailing, the air intakes have had carbon fiber decals added. The radiators are ok, but not the best. I believe the photo etched set that is available would be a nice addition to include grills on them, but we are not using it for this build.
To conclude I'm happy with how it is taking shape, as I've previously mentioned its a very troublesome kit and I wouldn't take it on unless you are prepared for a lot of work and a fair bit of frustration. Next step is to get the rear suspension fitting, There is a small piece of bodywork which sits on the top of the gearbox so no doubt that will have some fitment issues getting it to line up correctly with the engine cover.
Fingers crossed I can get this finished quickly.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
Great work to fix all the issues. The red paint looks very good. Your F2002 is coming together well.

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
Hi all, This is what I hope to be the final update on the F2002 as there is very little to now complete. Since the last update I have finished the rear suspension, rear hubs and brakes. I have also added the rear diffuser and rear wing mount. This needed some modifications to match up with the changes I have made to the bodywork front to back. The main issue now is the fit of the engine cover, after positioning the bodywork that sits on top of the gearbox it will need a few little changes to sit square, but nothing too complicated and having not painted it yet isn't really a problem.
I am hoping to get this finished in the coming week, all the major detailing is now finished and the rear wing is painted ready to but added, as is the front nose and front wing.
Next update will finally be the finished model.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,WardsModelBuilder wrote: Hi Mike, I used a general water based vanish remover on the paint, being that the model is plastic I didn't want to risk anything too toxic. I am using the Brian Fawcett detail set, I would highly recommend it as its does add a lot of detail compared to the standard kit parts. As this is a commission build and the customer sent both the kit and detail set to me I don't have any details on availability.
Hope that helps
Chris
Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated and yes, definitely helps.
You have gone a pulled off another great build. Your customer will be thrilled.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
Hi all, the F2002 was finished a few weeks ago, here are some photos of the finished model.
Everything went together well in the final part of the build. The decals are probably the best part of the kit!!! All in all turned out pretty well considering the poor quality of the standard kit.
Thanks

Great job! Turned into a beautiful model that could sit proudly amongst the Tamiyas, etc.
