1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
This is my current commission build of the Ferrari F2002 with the Brian Fawcett detail set. The model will have some additional detailing such as electrical wiring and carbon fibre decal work.
Anybody that has attempted this kit will know that the model has a lot of fitment issues, I didn't realize how bad it was going to be until I got into the build.
I started by removing the paint from the pre painted red body parts.
The front end of the chassis does fit rather well, a little tweaking needed, the main issue was getting the engine cover to line up with the floor and front section. I have had to split the engine cover in two down the top line to change the angle and cut the side pods so they could be realigned to match correctly.
After many days of filling, sanding, filling, etc I feel as if I have got the fit to a respectable level.
Now the main body work changes have been completed I have been able to work on the engine, gearbox and fuel tank ready for fitting.
And also the seat, the customer has supplied a set of MFH seatbelts to replace the very poor kit parts. I have also flocked the seat and arm pads, and added carbon decals to the cockpit sides.
I should now be able to move this build on pretty quickly, next step is the suspension, I will add some more photos when I have that completed.
Thanks, and if anyone has build this model before, please let me know as I would like to know if the same issues were apparent with fitment that I have had with this one.

Great job on this one getting some of the basic issues with the kit rectified early on. Will be watching this one with interest.

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
I built this model a couple of years ago. Very poor quality. Took me a year to get it right. But it was worth it. The importance of this car out weighed the poor quality. If you need any photos or help let me know.

I deeply admire the strong will of those of you who "repair" rather than build this car.
I surredered to the (for my standards) nice aint finish and will do it strictly stock, sorry
How will you paint it? remember color is fluo

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
That`s a real nightmare kit i have to say, i re created a lot on this one to build it curbside as i wanted a clean look, one of the problems is that if the exhausts are fitted, the engine cover can not be attached, but this kit has other issues as well! Looking forward to your progress, any plans on using the detail kit on it?
Take a stand!

Chris,
What did you use to strip the paint?
Also did you recently purchase the Brian Fawcett kit, as I am contemplating purchasing it myself and am not certain of its availability.
I have two these kits, so from what I am hearing, hopefully of the two, a good one will come out of it. Fingers crossed.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari F2002
Per San Marino's reply, I also have two of these kits (plus a "parts" kits) and the Scale Motorsports detail set. I too, am curious about the Fawcett resin set. I guess I should just contact him, as he has answered previous queries. The exchange rate isn't great right now, but ....
Anyways, it looks to me like you just sanded the original paint off, or am I wrong?
I'll have to dig my kits out and see if it looks like I'll have the same fitment issues, and let you know. Nice work on correcting them though, and Thanks to the other post for a heads-up on the exhaust system fit. I haven't been able to find hardly any WIP on this kit.

Hi all, I've started the building of the kit some years ago and I striped the paint with isopropyl alcohol without trouble. Still not finished by now. Advanced but not finished. I have a Wip, I hope that i'll publish advances I've made soon Hope it helps

Hi Mike, I used a general water based vanish remover on the paint, being that the model is plastic I didn't want to risk anything too toxic. I am using the Brian Fawcett detail set, I would highly recommend it as its does add a lot of detail compared to the standard kit parts. As this is a commission build and the customer sent both the kit and detail set to me I don't have any details on availability.
Hope that helps
Chris
