Thanks mate.

I had another amateur hour moment the other evening. I had been wiping the bodywork down with a rag and a little bit of windex, getting rid of decal residue and finger prints before clear coating...I had also been using a similar tissue to clean some paint off the airbrush - using very strong paint stripper formula I guess.
You can guess the rest - 'ooh, a finger print' - picks up rag, wipes bodywork - umm, seems to have gone sticky......ARGHHHHHHH Almost took out the side decal and blue paint. You can see a very small black mark on the left of the cockpit side, in the white decal, just above the red pinstripe it almost removed as I tried to rescue - luckily the clearcoat hid most - that is 2 major almost-**** ups with the painting and clearcoating process. I blame my crowded, temp. set up.....got to be more careful!

It is NOT easy to build a complex 1/12 MFH without making one or more mistakes. It is very hard to avoid that. Part of the challenge.

In this stage I would always wear nitrile gloves, just to prevent things like this.

The main factor in getting rid of errors like that is not to rush, think before grabbing hold of pieces.

A few updates...

Test wing fitting!

Image

Started adding wires. I think this will be easier when the engine is joined to the bulkhead (before fitting the floor) as the cables/wires/pipes will have somewhere to go...

Image

Image

Primed and colored the wing elements. These are resin, and required just about no work before spraying...

Image

Very light first coat of blue - just a dust really...

Image

Then quite a few more to get to the dark blue...

Image

Image

Added some vents to the main upper bodywork...

Some other details...

Some - this is cool. Carbon disc spray from Zero. (Not actual name, I'll check and add pic) - sprayed onto the white metal discs for the BT52, and it really does look like carbon - no post work at all, exactly as sprayed.

More later...
