Hi
I have been to France in the summer and incidentally were in the Mougins area near Cannes. I have in the past visited an ok automuseum - last time in 2007. So I wanted naturally to renew the experience... But found that the museum had folded in 2008.
There was apparantly a reason why the area around it looked rather second hand in 2007 then.
So all I have is some now historic pictures of some cars then.

Renault A442 Le Mans 1978 winner - at least by looks! Don't know if it was the real car.

The 1996 Ferrari. Early disguise.
When I visited the museum in 1987 there were a lot more F1's though.
Sadly no more.
Best regards

Thanks for the pictures, few F1 cars but that Lola-Beatrice is beautiful!

Re: Automobile museum France
It's a shame to see nice auto museums go out of business, isn't it.
Those cars are still around somewhere, though. Now it'll just be harder to find them -- unless they're in private hands -- and see them again.

The S4 is actually a Gr. A Delta HF integrale, Safari version. The S4 was a Gr. B as the 037.
Hey, what's the F1 that appears vottom left corner of the first Haas pic??? looks similar to 126C, but certainly it's not...

Re: Automobile museum France
Hi
I noted this as well, but I have not another picture of it?
I think that the museum was a dream of a couple and it existed for 24 years. I visited it 20 years apart finding that not much had happend with the exhibition. It was not very big. It was fine though - but any museum need new exhibitions to lure earlier visitors back, so I guess they simply ran out of money?
You are right about the Lancia though. It was just a test to see if any one actually paid attention!

Re: Automobile museum France
Perhaps a Ferrari display car? I saw one in Honolulu at the Ferrari shop. It looked like a 2007 F1 at first glance, from a distance, but it was a well-made fibreglass mock-up. A 1:1 scale store decoration.JamesB wrote:Hey, what's the F1 that appears vottom left corner of the first Haas pic??? looks similar to 126C, but certainly it's not...

Here you are!
a bit of research, and voila.
There's a blog (where the pic comes from) that will help you re-live the experiences you felt there...

Yes, these efforts made by just a few people are sooo welcome. I remember there was a small museum, Antic Car Club at Barcelona where you could see sme gems, some Pegasos among them. Not sure if it exists yet. Probably Edgar can tell....
haha, nice test! that keeps us awake!!!Flemming wrote: You are right about the Lancia though. It was just a test to see if any one actually paid attention!

Mistery solved!!! Well, now we only need someone to identify it. Does look like a formula other than an F1, right?Eagle50 wrote: Perhaps a Ferrari display car?
Yes, I also remember seeing an MP4/6... mock up at 1:1, I'd say thatat Beaulieu, UK.
PS: it even seems they had a T5 in they heyday...

Seems to be some Indycar from the seventies/eighties. And there is that beautiful Matra too!JamesB wrote:

A crying shame such a museum folded.
