Scale Hardware rivets for 1/12 scale?

Hello all, I'm thinking about redoing the body and monocoque rivets on my 1/12 Tamiya Tyrrell 003 with Scale Hardware rivets and was hoping for some photos of these rivets in your 1/12 projects. Trying to get an idea of how they'd look and Google is coming up short. Any help is appreciated!

I was doing research on a project for adding rivets to the M19 Yardley.
Haven't started and it is in 1/20th scale. The link might help give you an idea what a 1/12th car does look like.
I was going to use the .4MM rivets for 1/20th scale from scale hardware.

Hi pstager,

Personally I find resin rivets much easier to work with but a lot of that will depend on the situation you intend to use them for. For example, if the underside of the piece you intend to apply rivets to is exposed ( ie: can be seen ), then you may consider slicing off the rivet head and gluing that into position. If not, then simply drilling a suitably sized hole and CA gluing the rivet into position will work perfectly.

I recently completed Tamiya's 1:12 Lotus 78 and used Calibre 35 0.5mm rivets for the body and tub. Whilst Calibre 35 have ceased production of these resin cast rivets, 0.5mm and 0.7mm rivets can be sourced from Masterclub instead.

I have invested in some 0.7mm rivets from Masterclub as their quality is superb, just as good as Calibre 35. You will find Masterclub rivets at HobbyEasy at the following URL:

Appreciate the help everyone! Looks like I'll have to choose between resin and metal rivets. Paul_OFarrell, what did you find easier about the resin rivets?

Hi pstager,

Several reasons, as follows...

I found that resin rivets hold paint better - it doesn't seem to chip off as easily.

With Calibre 35 rivets you can easily snap the head away from its shaft if needed, because the shaft is attached to a sprue. Much easier than having to cut the metal shaft off from a loose and very tiny rivet and then try to make the reverse side of the rivet head flat.

As the Cal35 resin rivets are attached to a sprue, this also makes them easier to hold while painting.

Resin is easier to sand/file to shape than metal is - which can be handy if you need to remove a glued-in rivet.

Of course there are downsides to resin too... It is not as strong as metal, so if you need the rivet to be load bearing then I would opt for a metal rivet instead.
