It hasn't been mentioned but it may or may not be obvious the wider the connector the more pins it has or the more current it is carrying. Typically an ECU or control box will have wider connectors carrying more signals. A smaller connector would be used for a single sensor connected to the engine or an antenna for example. If resource material is lacking one can make a reasonable assumption based on my above example.
