MFH Ferraris 312T4
I finally managed to finish my latest built, the MFH hybrid kits of the Ferrari 312T4. As I said in another thread I did not really enjoy building them. Especially the front suspension was a nightmare. Thin suspension parts are always the weak point of multimedia kits. No matter how they are packed, usually you end up with a heap of mangled white metal rods which never get straight again. This was the case with the two 312T4 kits too. As much as I tried I think the front suspension looks horrible. It was hard work to get all four wheels touching the ground at the same time.
Also the fit of the cowling was problematic. I ended up ripping most parts below it out again to make it fit acceptably. In the end I sort of force-glued it to the side-pods. I wish they had done the wings in plastic too. This would have saved me a lot of sanding work as the white metal part’s surfaces were quite rough.
I did one kit as the Gilles Villeneuve Long Beach winning car and the other one represents Jody Scheckter’s winning Monaco version. Have a look for yourself.

Re: MFH Ferraris 312T4
I still have one waiting to be finished,I found the engine and monocoque want to part or buckle under the weight of the two parts (suppose easy fix would be to use a nut to make the marriage strong) the skirt on the lower body panel touches the ground as the weight of the monocoque and engine is too much so the suspension gives (suppose the solution would be to shove a brick under the monocoque lifting it forcabley) nice kit and horrid at the same time!
You seem to have done it justice though so congrats!

Stunning work JM..A great series of T4 / T5's.Yes,bended fine parts are the main problem in MM kits. They should make the fine 'tube' parts in Zamac metal as Tamiya does in there 1/12 kits..
Well done,
Alex.

Re: MFH Ferraris 312T4
Four lovely cars!
But what a shame you didn't enjoyed the build of the T4's
In the end, your probably not the one who likes them the most, but we do like them a lot
Cheers, Martijn

Re: MFH Ferraris 312T4
Thanks for the nice comments!
It's just that my expectations for the building process were too high after the experience with the many Ebbro kits I had lately. They almost fell together by themselves.
Now that they are on the shelf I actually do quite like them myself .alien9998 wrote:If you don't like them you can put them on my shelves.
