Paul, right you are! Mario kept the same style helmet even after Viceroy sponsorship was gone. He widened the red stripe and replaced the gold stripes with blue.
Michael, you are also correct. Big Joe was highly underated for some reason. Maybe it's because Indy was more highly regarded than the Championship at that time and Joe didn't have one? Just a guess.

I'm sure not winning Indy had something to do with it. Also, accoridng to Joe (via a friend who spoke directly with Joe at length), Viceroy was not pleased that 'average Joe' and his Samsonite sponsorship was upstaging their superstars Andretti and Unser.Sbenford wrote:Thanks Alex for the pictures.
