New here

I'm new here, so I may have lots of questions. I'll start with, what are your steps to applying carbon fiber decals? I'll be starting a MP4/7 soon. Thanks.

I just learned what I think is a valuable lesson! I'm currently using S27's Ferrari 2001 carbons on the Tamiya kit. The front suspension parts are so thin that they wound up warping when I used prolonged bursts from the hair dryer. My solution was to cover up the rest of the piece with tin foil and to limit my bursts to 10 seconds, then let the piece cool some. Unfortunatley, with these pieces, the decals are wide enough so as to wrap around the entire part of wishbone. And to get them to conform, you need to blast them with heat ( and lots of Micro Sol). Hopefully with this heads up, you won't have any warped bits.

You can put them over either but you may want an undercoat of semi gloss black. In some spots like on the rear wings, if the plastic is red and the wing and end plate insides are carbon, you wind up with these nasty red seams and trying to touch up those seams with paint and a brush is not fun and looks really bad.

I use Studio 27's carbon markings for specific cars so there's no guess work and/or trimming. Much like regular decals, put them in place, hit them with Micrsol then blast them with a hair dryer until they conform like a Shrinky Dink! Warning: you will burn your fingers! Have fun!

Try searching the scalemodeling channel on You Tube.  Thats where I found it.

Try a You Tube search.  I ran across a couple of good carbon fiber deccal application videos a couple of days ago.
