kits from SMS listed at $185 up to $230. The last ones I had on my watchlist were at $130 earlier this year.
<sigh> yet another case of missed the boat.
Hiroboy still has the three F1 sets at old regular price

I just pulled the trigger on a bunch of smaller stuff on Ebay to take advantage of the discount, rather then the 917/30. Picked up some SMS detail sets and a ST27 F40 Competizione I have been watching for a year.

I like their CF decals and meet them at NNL East a few times.

I hope to see them there again this year.

Thanks for the great products provided!

I remember I bought the 1/12 312T set for about $90 Canadian from Hobby Link when it was on sale a long time ago.

Sorry don't mean to question this but where was this announcement made?
Checked the web site and nothing is mentioned there.
I've been using SMS products for a very long time...guess I am wishing that the news is not true.
If indeed this is true Mathew all the best to you and thanks for supplying so many cool things.

Yup, sorry but it is true. I don't think he has made a formal announcement. There is still some hope that there will be a buyer, but unless that happens, he will shut it down. This came to me directly from Matthew. I have been following this for over a year now. Nobody is any sadder about this than me. I love the products and Matthew has been very good friend of mine.

In view of the comments above, I went to Hiroboy today to order my 1/12 Ferrari 312 'BIG' photoetch set. I've already got a similar set for my Tyrell 003 waiting for that build. The funny thing is that I've never been able to find a WIP or even pictures of the finished cars using the full Scale Motorsport PE sets. Has anyone got experience of them in practice?
Best wishes

I think there is a thread over at a "rival" forum...automative... I used to have a bookmark to the 312t thread
as it was one of the reference builds. Unless I am mistaken, the guy was using the SMS set. If not, there is a
thread here by one of our own (belugawrx) for the Wolf WR1 using the SMS PE kit.

/edit going back.. the 312T build I had in mind used a painted chassis, not SMS but it is spectoncular anyway.

I`m actually using the SMS set on the Tamiya Wolf, realy nice parts so far, good fitting, but you need to think about which panel first to glue, otherwise it will not look accurate. The set is designed to fit the tamiya kit, so it contains a few mistakes as the kit is constructed the way it is. A couple of details are missing, especially rivets! I drilled all rivets plus the missing ones, changed the sidewall panel and corrected the base kit in some points. Overall a nice set, and the look is great once build.
Take a stand!

You mean like the way Mac's site doesn't mention the shutdown and doesn't appear to have been touched since last August? LOL
