Ferrari F2002 1/12 Revell detail-up kit from Brian Fawcett.

Post by allnie »

Parts looks very nice and fine. Looks like you can really build a much, much better 1/12 F2002 kit using those parts. Price is Pound 83. This is fair - there are many parts.
Only weak point is perhaps the instructions. A CD with a pdf file (which is a good idea). But mostly a lot of text + some useful pictures illustrating the text. But don't expect instructions like Top Studio or MFH. But I don't see this as a reason not to buy the detail-up kit because it is quite obvious where to use the parts.

The parcel arrived very fast without any complications.
Kit is recommended :D . Only a shame we had to wait so many years for such an obvious detail-kit, which really solves a lot of the bad Revell issues. Hope to start this project soon.

Thanks for review. Looks good, except for those bent suspension arms. Resin suspension arms could
be problematic, but I guess it's still a big improvement over kit parts.

Tip for the maker: some metal rods embebed within the wishbones woyld cheaply and easily fix the problem. And it may be done even with the same moulds.
Nice looks, rims are ultra nice. Who needs metal? :)

Hi, Thank's Alan for posting the pictures.
For lezdep and JamesB, yes the thin suspension arms had me scratching my head a bit. I did consider the idea of thin wires in each part but in the end chose the method I have used. If you look at the gearbox casting, you will see that the half shafts are cast in place. These are made from hard steel wire 2.4mm dia. I have to grind half way through it just to be able to bend the wire for the centre angle in a jig to make sure it is correct. By going this way bit means that the rest of the suspension is largly cosmetic, and as I'm sure you will know , just dipping the suspension arms in very hot water will enable them to be straightened if needed.
Cheers,
Brian.

Good, Brian! :) but that leaves the front suspension... ;-)
Yes hot water and letting cool under a weight should help.
Hey, the wheel screws look fantastic! a challenge to cast that!!
