shows/events in Chicago/Detroit

Post by jhott66 »

Greetings.
I've been away from the hobby for about 5 years but now I'm back.
I was wondering where I could find info about show/swap meets/etc?
Back in 2001 (?) I went to a 1/43rd scale event in the Chicago area and was wondering if this still happens and where and when it happens?
I've searched the forums here but with no results.
Thanks.

Jon,
That event you talk about has now been sort of taken over by the Ferrari
Club show.We have the model contest and some good model vendors along
with alot of book, art, car part vendors. Its not as big as the Stricktly 43rd event
but it has been alot of fun.Its also FREE and located at a Ferrari dealer. Not a bad mix.
The model contest is as big if not bigger than the Sricktly 43rd events contest.
Alot of very nice models to look at.The Bugatti club should have alot of models
in the contest this year as several very good Bugatti builders plan on coming
again this year.

thanks.
Strictly 43rd. That's the name. I could not remember that.
I think it was March 2002 that I was at that show.

Is the Strictly 43rd show dead? I did a google search and the only thing that came up was the 2002 show. Interesting.

The old Strictly 43rd show is gone. Some toy show is now using the name.It is not
the old Strictly 43rd show ( dolls and toys mainly and no model contest..I dont understand why they call it Strictly 43rd?)
Go to www.kaz43.fotki.com
and look at the Ferrari Expo pages. Both 2006 and 2007 model contests are listed.
We had alot of very nice 1/43rd builds entered in the model contest ..
The REAL Strictly 43rd show stopped in 2005.
