Tires/Wheels for Ferrari 412T2 1/12

Post by Thomas9791 »

Hi everyone!

I just purchased a CMM Ferrari 412T2 in 1/12 on Ebay and it was the last one they have. As expected the kit is crap, but otherwise better than nothing. I want to build a 412T2 in 1/12. Sadly the tires and wheels are missing. I contacted the seller a few minutes ago so naturelly no answer till now. In case he doesn´t have tires and wheels in spare any suggestions how to solve this? Ok tires in resin or 3D print which i have. CCM tires are also resin, but rubber would be much nicer. Ok I think tires are not the big problem, but the BBS wheels? Did MFH sometime made a 412T2?? Or any other suggestion where to get the wheels? Thank you! Bye Thomas

Do know this kit but I think it should be possible to make some copies for a 1/20 S27 kit.
If you are interested let me know.

Not really Thomas. It's a 1:12 kit.

Theoretically it should be possible to source/use tyres from the Hiro FW16 but they will be expensive.
There are no correct 1:12 BBS rims available for a 412T2.
If you can do it this could be easily solved with CAD and 3D printing.
If not and if you're up for some scratch building ( in a best case scenario you can use a lathe...) you could build the rims starting with the Revell F2002 rims.

Yes, I know and that would have been exactly my approach.
I take the 1/20 rims, make a copy and an adjustment to the 1/12 hubs and enlarge it to 1/12 ;)

So, you mean 3D scanning and scaling them up?

that must be an amazing scanner to scan so fine...I want one :)

How about the wheels of the F2002 for a start, at least the wheels look similar. Wasn't there a company called "Antares" who made replacement wheels for the Revell kit ?

Making the rims and wheels in 3D is no big deal but making just a '"one-off" will be pretty expensive!? ....at least if you can't make them your own.

Yes, maybe with some reverse engineering ;)

Yes, but the question is always what you need it for.
There are many differences and it doesn't always have to be the most expensive solution.
But we're getting off topic Daniel... ;)
