Hey I entered something at a contest!!
Hey I entered something at a contest!!
Can’t say where yet in order to keep the secrecy of model authorship
More tomorrow, but feel the power of Forum at that corner
Models are not that new as they were on tour by 2018. But at least I did finish them.
May it be a rehearsal for next year

Nice lighting setup! Always one of the biggest problems in contest venues.

CD jewel cases seems an odd choice of model to build. But hey! With Cup O Noodles kits n such, who can tell?

James, I really like the job you do with the driver figures and helmets in 1/20 scale.
Re: Hey I entered something at a contest!!

Re: Hey I entered something at a contest!!
Ok on with the pics
https://postimg.cc/gallery/km5w825
That is the overa ll gallery. Here theautomotive stuff with comments
They needed an extra cabinet for some of cars.
In this case, the stuff by a portuguese modeler that makes his own rally moulds and decals. Also some outstanding Ferraris and a big Delta (not his, I think)
Another view of the same area...
I told you his Ferraris were nice!
This Marquez Honda duly got a gold medal. This kind of work usually does.
... another view
Yet another view, from the front
I should have taken more pics of this Vale bike. Great engine work
General view with the two MGP, and a nice Chopper with a curious bearded figure, great job
A very nice Alonso Indycar. I am really surprised it did not get any prize.
more papaya Macca
Rear view. Yes organisation should clean the perspex windows...
same comment as above with side view
This Fiat Mefistofele was not in the contest but part of organisers stuff
And that´s the Matra I had shown. No medal but a mention...
My 1/43 Brabham effort, made by commission for our fellow memeber brabhamboy. Sorry Martyn I would have loved to add a medal to it, but then no. I should have entered one of the BT53...
More small Brab. The bus beside got a medal, gold one well deserved
Then these two Alonso Renaults at 1/43. One got gold medal, the other one nothing. I´ll let you guess which one...
Even if it´s a bit cheek-in-tongue to be critical with levels of finish I am not able to achive honestly I am not a fan of the "gelly" finish specially at 1/43. But it´s what judges love at least here in our country.
You can see the Renaults, also the other 1/43 (McLaren) and note that there was a Land Rover special award, hehe.
Same thing plues some amazing buses and trucks
And again. Plus some muscle cars. And ahem some nice F1 start to be seen..
The other 1/43. Gold medal too.
More nice stuff.
Ç
General views. There was a great Bentley Blower, a big 300SL, a fantastic VW van, also a quite imoressive fluo yellow car which I should have taken more pics of.
More stuff, and the neighbours of my own F1s...
And let´s go with the ones I enntered. Here they are on the pre-grid, at home...
same here...
And again.
And now in the hot of the action. I am happy how the bases did work. Considering I made them all in a morning...
James´cars and some friends...
It was fun that they put the awards lettering just beside my cars
Yes I forgot to paint those radiators on my ATS D4...
And the proud medal winner!!
Some remarks should be done.
The March was probably the weakest of them all, both for the master of the model, and the finish itself. The Alfa is quite nicer (though its finish has aged), and then the ATSs or the Tyrrell are much better and (modeling wise) have better paint jobs.
The Minardi is a nice Transkit and looks good.
Anyway all of them are mediocre to say the best. I assume they gave value to the fact that it´s scratch building and not a plastic model.
I also will highlight that wisely I entered them at the scratch category, which after all they are
It´s not they had necessarily to assign one prize at this catergory... it´s an open contest, not a "classification" competition and they give as many gold, silver and bronze as they wish.
ANyway THANKS to AMT for considering the job. And as I said I suppose they gave a medal because I eneterd 7 quite unsual models and for the overall scractch job.
Why they chose the March? not sure, maybe the base with grass or the 811 color combination that is quite flashy and sexy.
I´ll offer more pics of the awarded models later.
Thanks for looking!
Thanks Bill, Alan,Paul, Bossy, Dali for your comments!
Yes lightning is quite good, even a bit too strong. Specially as base is white, it makes light control hard when taking pictures. BTW yes, mine are abysmal!!
Not sure it was CD cases, but tere were a few commercial die cast bases used. Mine are simple DM table. Painted this time.
Thanks and I remind the nice Minardi transkit is still available for sale
Thanks Bill for the drivers comment. I know I can do much better anyway. These were quite rushed out. Even my wife noted the belts could be better.
One final comment. They were the only 1/20 F1 cars there. Even some have been entered other years. But to make yourself an idea that the contest is not used to it, 1/20th did not even appear within the available scales of the contest online form!!
Anyway I am happy the 1/20 F1 was present regardless my level. Hope this encourages more people.
I will repeat next year with stuff made on purpose. These were left overs. Probably that JS19 that should have been there two years ago, for instance
