Has anyone here heard of this or can confirm it?
For several days there have been rumors circulating on social media that MMP Co. Ltd. which runs the Ebbro label has filed for bankruptcy.

Sad breaking news for Plastic modellers we have just heard the following announcement from Ebbro.

EBBRO
We are very sorry to advise that Ebbro have gone bankrupt… currently this means that we will not be able to access more stocks. It remains to be seen what happens with the moulds.

This was posted by my LHS on their Facebook page.

Very sad news indeed.

While waiting for Ebbro to release long-promised kits was often frustrating, the releases of wonderful Lotuses and Tyrells were always worth the wait even if the upgrades to existing Tamiya kits were less notable (and the failure to update the chassis/tub of the Lotus 25 to fit the cowling of the Lotus 33 struck me as downright sloppy at best).

But maybe there will be a silver lining if another manufacturer acquires the moulds from the bankruptcy. I have to think that Nunu/Platz, Beemax, Fujimi, Hasegawa (or Tamiya) would be better positioned to produce and get kits to market. It would be a lovely coda to Ebbro's run if some of the yet to be released Ebbro prototype subjects over the years still get released someday.

That is very sad news.
Their Tyrrell and Lotus kits were great.

I would not put too much hope in the moulds. First of all, everything can happen in a bankruptcy case.
First of all they could be in a physically random location which can mean they get lost or destroyed and even if they are known as sold off at a post bankruptcy sale that will still mean the new buyer will have to obtain licensing etc. to produce the kits.

The Modeller's moulds for the Ferrari F92AT and Footwork FA13 were rescued, but their F3000 cars were not.

It's sad overall.

Were they producing any kits at all just prior to this bankruptcy announcement? I'm thinking the eBay pirates will have a field day, as the kits will be rarer than before.

Really sad.
I liked their choice of subjects very much. :(

I hope Tamiya takes over the moulds. After all Tamiya and Ebbro had been working closely together.
For example: I can not imagine that - let's say - Fujimi takes over the moulds for the Lotus 33, and get's the additionaly required moulds for the Lotus 25 from Tamiya.
