1/12 HONDA NSR250 - Reinhold Roth

Post by Dede »

Thought I'd post this as a belated tribute build to Mr. Reinhold Roth who sadly passed away in 2021.

The 250cc Grand Prix class racing back in the mid 80's to mid 90's was very exciting racing and a great era.

Reinhold Roth was usually running up front somewhere, very talanted rider, hence the Number 2 on his bike, he had a horrific accident at the 1990 Yugoslavian GP which ended his career and left him with life changing injuries.. very sad and he had a very difficult life ever since the crash. RIP Mr. Roth.
I still have another build I hope to add to the collection some day, Jacques Cornu's NSR250.

Kit is Tamiya's 1/12 NSR250 Grand Prix race bike from 1990 with aftermarket decals.

Great collection.
Nice to see a bike that was ridden with success from a German rider. That's not happen too often these days.
Reinhold Roth, Manfred Herweh, Martin Wimmer.
And later there great Dirk Raudies and Ralf Waldmann.
That was a German bunch of riders we will never see again in Moto racing for decades.

Like your bikes!

Regards Christian

Toni driven some years before these guys. That's why I don't count him into these group.
He was the "father" for the young guns . 😂😉

Well, indeed they raced together for a while. :D Anton was just 4 years older than Cornu or Reinhold but main difference is that Mang managed to succeed younger, while these two had to wait till late thirties to gte their hands on a works bike. But yes for many of us he´s in that group that was the thick of the pack of that championship that went from amateurish TZs to works Hondas and Yams. But yes you can get a nice Mang´s Rothmans Honda though you´d need one of those Ixo bikes we have talked about
BTW in 88 Toni wanted to deffend his number 1. Started well, winning but then he had a pair of crashes and decided to call it a day. While Cornu and Roth were making the grade and good use of their NSRs
Oh BTW the guy who told me stories about racing I mentioned the other day was related to that legendary HB livery.
Wow Dede, nice one and this pack is really getting interesting. 8)
Ah Herweh and Wimmer too... I remember them also competing with our geat Pons. BTW Dede the Sito bike is also magnificent!

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

The 250cc class was great and all those names deserved a mention, not to forget Roth's teammate too Helmut Bradl...

It would have been nice if Tamiya or one of the other Japanese model companies gave us a YZR250 from 1989/90 to go with these NSR's, a few nice liveries involved there, Kocinski/Cadalora 89 Marlb0r0, Ruggia's Gauloises and Garriga's Ducados.

Thanks.

Thanks.
Yes that’s a serious and sad hole in the 250 coverage. And that bike was such a versatile subject...
Unfortunately Ixo did not fix it either  :D
