Totally inexcusable for F1 not to refund everyone who was there that night - Max was right, the fans should have torn the place down for that middle finger to the fans.
Chargeback AND join (or at least follow) the class-action lawsuit that is already in the works.

It's not, though. The start time is 6am in the UK, 7am in Germany. It's only a 'decent' time for India, China, Japan and Australia. The problem is, they clearly decided they want to run it at night, so you can see the lights, and then shoehorned everything else around that. Like, EVERYTHING, right down to the whole "we want to make F1 bigger in the US, so lets hold more races there, including one where everyone will be asleep."

The whole thing to me smacks of a cynical desire to make as much money and spectacle as possible, without ever stopping to wonder if anything they were doing actually made sense. And I've got to say, I'm waaaay over hearing people in the F1 world talk about improving 'the spectacle' while completely ignoring the sport (you know, the actual product). I follow a few other sports that have had their ups and downs and pondered how to increase popularity and invariably the conversation revolves around improving the actual game, or else getting more eyeballs if they feel they already have a quality product. Nobody but F1 obsesses over "the spectacle" over the game.

Also, I hadn't bothered to look at the track before and OMG Eric is 100% right! :o
Its a better time for Europe than if it was shown at 6 PM PT, and thus 9 PM Eastern on Sunday night, and that time would still be at night as its dark by 4:30 this time of year there. 6 AM/7AM is what many of the races were shown at for European time in the US anyway. I know its not perfect, but it was done for European times...otherwise it would have been on Sunday and you'd be watching it at 3 AM Monday morning.

I still haven't watched the race myself. I saw Sainz's crash into the track surface as a highlight, but otherwise just had other stuff to do. I'm not prioritizing F1 anymore, and knowing they don't seem to care about having fans at their races somewhat seals the deal.

I guess this poll should have had an option for "Liberty media fined for public indecency after all Thursday attendees get #%@&'d on live TV"

There was nothing wrong with this race that isn't wrong with all the races. I found it to be as entertaining as at least half of the races thus far. Despite all of the fear, loathing, and mass hysteria of much of the F1 fandom once the race was announced I'm very much looking forward to it next year. Just move the damned starting time up two hours.

What boggles my mind is that as far as I can tell there were no support races whatsoever, not so much as a lawn tractor race. If you go to the European GP's there's all sorts of support series on the bill with F1. There's usually F2, F3, Formula Renault, Carrera Cup, etc. Even here at a Indycar or IMSA race weekend there are always a full card of support series. If I'm paying my hard-earned income to go to a race weekend, I am going to watch racing, not see five hours of on track activity and then watch a bunch of posers & celebrities parading around. I expect a full weekend of racing.
I can't help but think F1 is trying to rip off the US fans simply because the newer ones don't know any better.
I've been to many GP's of the past forty-five years, most here, a few abroad, and I told my wife if I ever mention going to a contemporary GP here in the US these days, its time for her to get that home lobotomy kit out and give my grey matter a scramble.

No support races because there is no track - they close the public roads a few hours before and open them up a few hours after..

Doesn’t stop them from having support races at Monaco.

Not sure that you understand how little interest there is in F1 in the states compared to ROW and how despised street races are by local residents, businesses and even city governments. Even the "successful" ones are not all rainbows and balloons and for some cities they've been complete disasters. Plus the average person on the street could not possibly care any less than they already do about events for the 1%ers - all they really care about is the inconvenience and disruption and that it doesn't benefit them or anyone they know in any way at all.

Oh trust me, I know all too well what a pain in the ass street races are for the locals. I used to go Motown for F1 when it was downtown, my in-laws are from Detroit, they're more than happy to describe what a pain that was.

Instead of watching a support race, you can go play black jack and get pushed when the dealer hits 22. WAAAY more entertaining......at least for the casinos.
