Hotel Recommendations - Canadian GP

Post by Fast289back »

My sons gave me tickets to the 2024 Canadian GP for my birthday a couple of weeks back. It'll be my first time attending and I’m guessing it’s best to book my hotel room as soon as possible. Before doing so I thought I’d reach out to the members here who have attended in years past for any recommendations on good hotels either close to the track or easy commuting distance.

Any PMs sharing either good or bad experiences and any other dos and don’ts are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

As woodgp mentioned, hotels will require minimum night stays and their rates are inflated for that weekend.

Any hotel you stay at will require commuting via public transit as getting to the island/CGV is only via the metro/subway (not sure if you can take a taxi/Uber to the casino and enter that way).

You can stay in downtown Montreal with multiple access to public transit, all sorts of restaurants, and where the race related weekend festivities take place. And very likely the highest prices.

There is then the south shore, Longueuil, where there is one hotel next to the metro station.

Or you can stay at a hotel on the outskirts of the city and drive in, park, and then take public transit. Yes, not close to the track or easy commuting.

I will PM you some suggestions in the coming days.

Cheers,
Mike

so ,I have found that I pay the big dollar ,get a great room and safe ! , metro right outside and no other expense really for rest of weekend ( taxi or drive back in to city etc ...it's just easier and only works out to 300 more then staying in Longueuil etc.
I done both and one's relaxing and the other way you're up early and on the move all weekend .
both are worth it ,you will have a blast , I get up and at track when they open , you would be surprised at who you meet walking around that early .
Courtyard Marriott , Novotel Montreal .. are two I have stayed at both were 400 Canadian a night during the weekend
cheers Joe

Room has been booked. We went with a downtown location. The prices per night were astronomical. Ours was on the lower end but still $600/night. Better get myself a part time job LOL

Thanks to Steve Joe and Mike for their their input/recommendations. Greatly appreciated

Thanks

Steve

Hey Steve,

Glad to be of assistance.

So next question now becomes, where will you be seated/located during the GP weekend?

Grandstand 1. Actual seat location unknown at this point. My sons purchased a package thru F1 Experiences. Apparently the details won’t come until a few weeks before the race. Fingers crossed that the seats are decent.

Great question in the grandstand. I have been going for over 30 years and sat at most of the locations. The best by far grandstand 11, the « Senna » curve. View of the pit exit, start and finish line. I have been at grandstand 11, section 3, row AA seats 17 and 18. Good luck with the seats!

Grandstand 1 is along starting grid/front straight, across from the pits, and near the podium. Big screens will ensure you don't miss what is happening elsewhere on the track. And real stadium style seats with backrest unlike the rest of us sitting on aluminum benches

Does the F1 Experiences include a tour of the track on a platform truck?

At the other end of the track, in the area behind the grandstand overlooking the hair pin, you will find the paddock area for the supporting races that is open to all. You can consider watching one or both of the Friday practices from the general area at the hairpin - give you a different view in addition to that you will. get from your seat.

I will be next door, in grandstand 12, section 5, row D, seat 27.
