Help on identifying a kit

Post by miguelpaulo »

Hi guys,

Just wondered if I can use all of your knowledge in racing cars and on scale models to help me identifying this one.
I just bought a kit on yahoo japan of a build model of an Alfa Romeo P3 and it came with a bonus kit (also built) that I´m struggling to identify

The photos are from the auction

I believe that it is an ERA A or B Type, but I´m not really sure.

Also, I didn´t know of any company making this one at 1/20, but it is a full metal kit.

On the other hand, the kit arrived in a bad shape due to poor packaging , and the engine cover is missing so, I will have to get my hands dirty and do some recovery work.

Anyone know this one?

Thanks

Miguel

It is similar to Revival 1/20 metal kit
Alfa P3

But why is it green? (usual revival is prepainted).

Yes it is similar to the revival metal P3 and effectively it came along it the P3 when I bought it.
It is not a green P3 since there are so many differences between them. The green I believe to be a color for the ERA (English Racing Automobiles) at some particular race.

Can´t seem to find a lot more online about it

There was a UK manufacturer that made 1/20 metal kits in the 1980s/90s called Bellini. They also made smaller scale models in 1/76 (maybe) under the name Piccolino.

I am not sure of the full range of 1/20 scale kits they made, but they definitely produced a Porsche 956, Jaguar D type, Maserati 250f, Lagonda Le Mans car and an Austin 750 Twin Cam. I have only seen the Austin in the flesh and for its time the quality was very good. So if any company made an ERA, I wonder if Bellini was the one?

Just thought that Western Models also may have produced some 1/20 models.

If you think the model is 1/24, there was another company called South Eastern Finecast and they definitely made an ERA.

Well, I think you might be right.

Found a catalogue from bellini and they actually made a 1935 ERA (Bira) wich is right on the spot.

This one is definately a 1/20 kit, and I didn’t know about bellini at all until you mentioned it.

Thank you so much Flinstone
