Well that was fast.

I will assume a good number of the tickets had already been sold to 2023 ticket holders like myself who had until July 9 to renew their tickets for next year.

I feel like we are in a bit of a Disney situation with tickets for events. They keep on raising prices, and people keep on buying, but then when they don't, it starts to collapse. I really wanted to go to Las Vegas for the GP as I'm turning 40 that weekend, but the least expensive tickets were $500, and then it went to $2k. Hotels that are usually $60-100 a night are now $3k with minimum stays. I just saw an advertisement for a "package" for the weekend that was $18,000.

I know people have the money for this type of event, but I don't know if they'll come back.

I suspected that. My disappointment is receiving an email to buy tickets on the day the sale opened up. Unfortunately, it came while I was working. And to top it off I received an email from GP Tours saying they got their "allotment" of tickets and packages would be available shortly. All pretty tacky.

In any case, I will have to re-think my approach to attending a race. I will go but I won't take a second mortage.

I am sure outside of Vegas you can find some experiences that will top the F1 race.
