BENETTON B186 from a B188 Anyone?

THat´s it.
Thinking over a bunch of built models I just acquired, that idea came again to my mind.
Anyone tried?
For me, apart from the obvious (replacing the V8 for a Brabham loaned BMW and remaking the sidepods) my main doubt is with the nose.
Apart from the tip that looks easy, I have thought of straightening the twisted profile of the sides at the wishbones area, then the thing will be adapting the suspension. Any thouhts? experiences?
THanks! :D

The main problem I see is that the nose is a lot shorter, and the suspension is closer to the cockpit by around 10cm in 1/1. I did a tool to build the 188's suspension from the outside, maybe could be used to move the suspension back a bit, but I just have one kit and the monocoque is already built.

It just took me some time, but I found it again... the pictures of S27. It might also be helpful for your project.

Wow hanks boys You are the best! :D
As I say that's the strength of this community, and always thank Eric for that! 8)
Great contributions all of them, Marcos and Thomas. :D very useful.
I'll try to make a compromise between "not bother too much" and the comprehensive work our fellow Tormentor did

Well, I thought you would like this...
Image

By a huge margin the best side picture of a B186 I found.
It's taken from far away, so the scale is quite consistent (though you should not all in the confidence trap).
From these ones and others, I took some conclusions.
-The overall figure o the car is quite similar. I mean, besides wheelbase that differs in 2 or mm (in scale!) everything else is in the same place.
-No, front suspension is not exactly closer to the cockpit... if you count the cockpit reference as the most consistent one, the head rest. Yes it´s closer to the cockpit front edge because cockpit is longer, more open.
-Chassis is mostly the same, but for those carvings the B188 has, while the 86 has straight side walls. Could be easy, but the problem might be adapting the suspension.
-Sidepods, well it´s about removing what you don´t want but keeping significant parts that will make it quite easier.
So even if the result is not 100% accurate, It´ll be a "replace the engine, remove what you don´t need, add hat you need, leave the rest alone" project.
Hmmm I like this car since 37 years ago!!! I even tried to make it from a pesky MIRA Ferrari 156/85 car.
God bless MIRA anyway, they made really nice things when TOYS used still to be made near the Valencia area, in Spain...

hi James,

There is a B186 chassis here in Australia and I've seen it a few times at historic events. I've uploaded some photos for you in the link below; At the top banner you can see a white download arrow, you can download all 85 photos in a few clicks as a zip file.

Some photos are a bit detailed, but I think there are also some useful ones to help you with bodyshape, suspension, panel lines, etc.

Good luck with the project :)

Wow! Jeff big Thanks!!! :D As usual help and good mood from the antipodes (or towards, it's a matter of erspective   quoting 007!), I also downloaded them.
 Just saw them all, amazing!!! :D :D
They'll be of GREAT help. I never saw or knew or noticed the undercuts on the chassis to allocate the radiator and the intercooler
