In Japan it started in the 1970's with sportscars with Fujimi, Otaki, Tamiya, Grip ect all doing the same cars. Fujimi, Rosso, Wave and Hasegawa did it in the 90's with F1 kits. Not a new thing for them to do this.

Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
I am aware of Wave/Rosso/Hasegawa. But they were in different scales.
Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
Yes, my pointing was more likely to the same scale, but even in 1:12 there has been other cars like 312T or else which have been done by Tamiya and Protar for example. But i can`t tell if they also have been released at the same time or even announced the same time.
I also find the license question interesting, in the past mainly one producer had the license for a specific scale, others not. On the other hand, a good deal for Mclaren as they collect double the fee that way, a strange situtation for the producers as the heat is up on them now, let`s see who`s first and which might be the better one. My only fear is like Michael said, will they rush and leave quality out to be the first on the market....

Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
Totally, forgot about the 312T, 312T4, and RE20.
There a show in Japan I believe next weekend. Maybe, we will see some pictures?

Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
Thanks for sharing. I have the Meng kit and plan to do a Senna Japanese Version. The Beemax will be the Prost Monaco win.

Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
Not to be negative but I don't think I would get in a hurry over this.We first saw The 99-T at a show 3 years ago or so and still we have only photos.
I wonder if the delay with the Lotus might be that they decided to do more Detail sets for it? Original number of sets was to be only a thousand.Doesn't seem like enough to me.
No Matter. As soon as the McLaren is offered for order my name will be on the list.

Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
That looks VERY nice.
Yes, will be years off, but looks like a wonderful design - and we might just have the 99T to build while we wait!

Re: Beemax McLaren MP4/4
That might be true. However, I assuming that the Lotus 99T was Beemax 1st 1/12th kit. Being it is the 1st kit, I think we can assume there are start-up issues with this project. Subsequent ones, should be easier.
