Oh! Obviously this clearly tips the balance to 1/24 if you wanna be comprehensive (I want it all style)...
I´d stay at 1/20, though.
But surely paying 25 or 30 e-bucks and having the model you wish is unbeatable.
Same happened with WRC... though at least there, the scale matched what already was.
I honestly think they should have gone to 1/20... though obviusy the all time all life 1/24 diehards will think otherwise...

They do 1/18th instead, wich I don't like. 1/20th has limited reach mainly for F1 kits(and not many new releases anymore). Very few diecasts are 1/20th scale.

Updated up to 100 1/24th F1 models now. I love the BRM P160B 1972 Monaco winner and many of the others. I bet it goes beyond 100. You may go broke collecting all these F1 cars.

I plan on being in Italy in the not too distant future. Would I literally look for these in newsstands or are they also sold in other types of stores also?

Not sure how many releases they keep at the newstands due to space limitations. Maybe only the last few releases. I know you can get them all on ebay from many vendors.

Maybe ask the newstand if they know any hobby shops or toy stores that have the older releases for sale.

In newsstands you will find the current car of the day you go (if it is not booked by someone...), when the new model car arrives in newstands the previous model car goes back in warehouse.
This is what happens in 98-99% of cases. Here in Italy you can be sure you'll get the item you want only if you subscribe the whole collection, otherwise, if you don't find it when it comes out on nesstands, you have to hope you can get the item as back issue.
I missed the Ferrari 312T4 of "Le grandi Ferrari F1" 1:24 collection, and it is no more availabe not even as back issue... :(
Usually some months later you can find the item you want in some model fair or exhibition at higher price.
I don't mean to discourage you, but this is the acual situation.
You can check www.centauria.it or www.primaedicola.it for items still available, if you stay in Italy for a couple of weeks the newsstand guy can order what you want if available.

Or PM me if you come to the Adriatic coast in Romagna

Ciao,
Pierluigi

Thanks for the info. I’m only going to be there for about 10 days so I’ll get what I can.

I was in Italy a few weeks ago (for the GP that never was :? ) and noted that some newsstands had earlier issues available, but very randomly. So if you look for a particular model it may be good to try one of the options to order as mentioned above, otherwise you could check in with a couple of the newsstands (there are quite a few of them even in smaller cities) and hope to find something nice. Enjoy the trip!
