Re: 1/6 Porsche 917 Engine Full Detail
... some progress made on the 1:8 version. All ancillary units are finished and installed
alternators
distributors
oil filter
camshaft lubrication braided hoses
rear alternator (only used for night races)
comparison with IXO engine (a bit unfair I admit)
and the future home for engine. The 1st of 2 frames for 917K in 1:8 is completed and ready for painting
The few kits I'll produce for sale are sold out and there will be no further kits offered. Thanks to the fellow modelers who take up the challenge of building this model
@ Felix, unfortunately I can't make it to the 24hrs of Nürburgring this year )-:

Hello Uli,
What a wonderful project you have embarked on!!!!! Your skills are just amazing Sir!!!
If I may ask, what brand of resin do you use for the fiberglass parts?

Re: 1/6 Porsche 917 Engine Full Detail
Thanks for your nice comments
Randy regarding your question on the fiberglass parts. For the 3D printing, I'm using a blend of Anycubic Resins (approx. 90% clear and approx. 10% yellow). However, the key to achieving a realistic fiberglass finish lies in the painting technique. I'm using Artists Acrylics of highest quality from Schmincke, which are extremely finely pigmented and heavily thinned with water to retain the semi transparent appearance. The colors are applied in several glazing layers with a brush and finally accentuated with pigments. It's quite an effort but the result is amazingly realistic
