Not F1 but most of you will like it. Tamiya is doing the Ford GT street car. Revell is already doing the race version in 1/24th so a nice set.

Was really hoping for the Toyota TS050 kit instead. Hopefully this with the Revell kit can make a nice combo as Tamiya's molds are always better.

I was also quite excited about possibility of getting modern LeMans winning car in plastic. Still cannot believe Tamiya decided to make yet another kit
of Ford GT instead. Cannot imagine why Ford GT would be more popular in Japan then LeMans winning Toyota. I will keep small hope still alive. Toyota seems
to be also to win WEC championship. What else needs to happen to convince Tamiya to make it in plastic, I don't know.

Don't know this to be true, but was told by a friend in Japan that Tamiya was not able to get a license for the TS050. Strange since they do the RC version? I see that Studio 27 is doing the car in 1/24 so maybe that limits them?

There could be several reasons for Tamiya not (yet) going for the TS050. The 'Super Season' is not over yet - Toyota might win both Le Mans in the season, plus the Championship so they could be sitting - waiting for their potential options. Could be licensing issues (as you stated). Another problem is these days the race car builders don't like to show what's under the hood, they have all got very secretive - Tamiya like to show 'full detail' when they can. I don't think they would be worried by competing with Studio 27 as the price difference puts them in with a different audience.

Hi

I have the Protomodel kit of the Toyota and there is no way it is licensed.

No mention of Toyota anywhere.

Again, not F1, but close up pictures of the Revell Ford GT Le Mans kit were posted on another forum (Not sure if I can include the link). It looks pretty good...
