I am astonished of how clean your build is, how you and other builders here achieve that is beyond me!! Beautiful kits, especially the 102B, wonderdful car!

Just read through your thread, and man, nice work. I would have given up and chucked it, kudos to you on these two kits - they are turning out beautifully!! That clear was real challenge.
Thanks for sharing your builds.

Thanks for the support as usual everyone! It was indeed a large mental barrier to overcome in order to complete these kits.
I hope to have another update tonight or tomorrow night, but I'm very close to completing them.
The CF is from the Studio27 CF sets, the yellow on top of the sidepod intakes is simply included in the sets.KB78 wrote:Sorry to hear of your Painting problems, I've been struggling with Paint/ Lacquer problems too. Horrible isn't it? Can I ask what Carbon fibre Decals you're using? Both the Black & Yellow look really good, who makes them?
No, they're not polished. It comes wrapped around a spool and I just measure an approx length needed, roll it around a few times on my cutting board to straighten it, then through trial and error (lots of test fitting) I either bend it with pliers or my fingers. It's super malleable and easy to work with.stubeck wrote:Great update! What do you use to bend the solder at such precise angles, and do you polish the solder at all to get that finish?

Both cars are looking very good. It must not have been easy to continue after so many problems with the paint, but so far I'd say it has been worth the effort

Re: Lotus 102B & 102D 1/20 Tamiya Double Build
Small update content-wise, but big step: The 102B is 99% complete! I spent the entire evening wiring the electrical box and putting the rest of the car together. Only thing that remains is the mirrors and antennae! I might also add some etched rivets after but I'm not sure if I want to bother with those to be honest. Next two days will be the same steps on the 102D.
Only thing that's a bit disappointing is that the A/N fittings on top of the gearbox are now preventing the engine cowling from sitting properly (to an even greater extent I suppose).
Only one picture for now. More will come in the completed thread

beautiful!
although i must say the upside down Judd on the cylinder head cover is really irritating me. Not sure why, and i know its the right way up above it, just stop it Judd!

Very impressive work. The wiring, the C/F decalling, everything looks very sharp. Great result.

That carbon decal and clear under the electrical components on the back of the monocoque is like glass. This build has been an absolute treat to watch. Thank you for sharing.
