1/20 2018 Red Bull RB14 - from Tam SF70H
Re: 1/20 2018 Red Bull RB14 - from Tam SF70H
Great to see this project taking form, Tyrone! I've noticed that You had the parts printed in a Formlabs printer, which is highly recommended.

An Abu Dabhi Alonso Mclaren will be epic...
Did you send the 3dFiles (after working on it) directly to the printer??

Did you get access to the same files Tyrone is using ? Or you have access to original game files ?scaleautofactory wrote:Not only the sharkfin will be the challange, the complete shape of the RB14 will a challange too.
some comparsion pics of SF71H, SF70H and RB14
...
There is lots of putty required to sculp the shape of the RB14 over the SF70H -
What 3D software are you using to work on those files ? Are models well designed and could be
split to sub-assemblies ? I am more interested in full model, then conversion.
Apologies Tyrone for using your thread, but PMs don't seem to work well recently.

No worries Sergey!
I used a service called 3D hubs which put you in touch with a person with a 3D printer, after running the parts through https://makeprintable.com/ to remove interior meshes etc, that are left over from the game files.

I've decided to just 3D print the whole back end of the engine cover and try to marry it up to the Tamiya cockpit, lets see how that goes! It did look like a lot of work to make the engine cover look remotly similar!scaleautofactory wrote:Here 2 more detailed pics:......

Update time! I got the 3D printed engine cover, it's a very crude / cheap print but I will sand it and add in panel lines.
Just gotta even it up a bit, its hard to hold in place!

Nice tyrone. Majorly impressed. Did you remember to leave enough room for the gearbox parts of the sf70 in that 3d engine cover?

Both side and top views look similar enough to me. You're on the right path.
Looks really promising. Seems like not that much from SF70H kit will be used
in the end, though.
