Re: FAREWELL KIMI! We'll miss you

Yes, Stu. And the thing is that Nate Sunders even falls short.
You guys cannot imagine how the "orchestra" still plays the Symphony with full roar. The F1 column of "specialists" on the diaries, is still specially on Alonso. The typical reaction on anyone doubting ALO is the F1 version of Anakin Skywalker's supernatural powers, is calling him a no brain man: plus envy, frustrated etc. That's it. All this has been fuelled by Alonso and his close circle.
People still stays on discussions of how good he is compared with Kimi, Massa, etc.
But as illusions burn up fast when you turn the fire on so much, now the thing that is gonna make Alonso the super ultra greatest mothertrucker master of the universe driver is not the Triple Crown, but the triple title crown: not just the Mon-GP, 24H LM, and Indy 500, but also ndy Champion, and WEC champion.
So maybe I am biased when I for once root the option of Mercedes hring him... if only to stop hearing all this.

PS: I changed the title for something more adequate, seen that Kimi's thing was a summer dragon and Alonso stuff has hijacked the thread...
BTW, what you guys think of the hinting of Ricciardo joining McLaren??

Danny Ricc is at a pivotal point in his career now. He cannot afford to waste time at Mclaren (I never ever thought I would have to say that). He's good enough to lead mercedes or ferrari but do they want him, probably yes but not enough to upset their current lead drivers. I could see him possibly replacing bottas at a pinch but not Kimi. Other than that he's got to stay at Red Bull. Any other team is a step backwards.

Ricciardo should stay at RB at least up to see if Honda can close the gap with Mercedes and Ferrari.
I think he still has the condition of "sure value" inside the team as Max can do the best and the worst job in the same weekend, so RB will have full confidence in him

yes, but....
Though apparently going to McLaren seems a clumsy move, the fact is that Ric risks facing a similra situation as... Alonso right now. No matter how they insist in selling us that RBR move to Honda is a smart one. I won't believe till the engine looks really good.
I fear that this switch risks to reduce the winners circle to just two, though OK, that's being discussed at other thread.
Anyway I think t's more than Ricciardo shows himself as available... maybe for Ferrari or Merc.

I typically ignore a lot of those people. I've found a lot of people don't really follow F1 closely. They listen to the stories and then make decisions based on that and act as experts when they haven't watched a GP live in years!

He should stay at Red Bull. The ideas that RBR favors Max have been disproven this year, and STR has been doing great with Honda this year. Its likely the Honda engine will just be getting better with two teams instead of just one.

Going to McLaren, who haven't won a race as a non-works team for decades would be a bad idea.

You are right: they don't like F1, and used to point at those who liked it 15 years ago as "senoritos"... they just use the chance to create trenches from which to quarrel, just that
Yep, the default option for Daniel is to stay, but if he could go to Ferrari or Merc... he should.

No doubt, but I don't see big possibilities. Hamilton and Vettel are very happy with their colleagues and for sure both teams want to be as far as possible of internal wars. His chance would be if Ferrari loose the title again because of mistakes by Vettel like in France and decide to contract a second winner

Amazing to see how things progressed since last time, latest post.
We do know the news, and unfortunately, despite an apparent turn in Iceman's fortune, now the replacement with Leclerc seems done.
I see absolute BS the motto of "we'll do like that to respect late Marchione's will".
People who is gone, is gone, sorry. And who knows, maybe Marchione's thinking would have changed in those months, right?
I cannot understand ditching a champion for a rookie. Meanwhile, some media contribute mitifying Vettel's latest statements ("I gotta race three cars") and turning that into Seb being upset with Ferrari and Kimi.
Well... let's see where it gets finally.
