Great detail work. It is no secret that Porsche and 1/12th is my favorite.

Re: MFH Porsche 917 Le Mans Winner 1971 in 1:12 Scale
Hello and many thanks for your very nice and encouraging comments and for your time following this WIP. I sense a big passion for the subject and for the PORSCHE 917 in particular
It's time for my next update about building this iconic sports car of the 20th century. Probably also time for a big thanks to MFH for providing us with this great kit !
As the engine is finished now, I've started to work on the rear frame. My assembly sequence of the rear frame will be a bit different from the MFH instruction sheet, so I've started with a couple of components, which I'll need on hand when assembling the rear frame. Starting point was the anti-roll bar of the rear suspension. I've basically replaced all MFH kit parts with new turned and machined parts. With some bending/sanding/polishing, also the kit parts can be used without any doubt but I've decides to go the hard way.
First, the MFH parts for the U-shaped anti roll bar has been replaced by stainless steel tubes of different diameters. The 2 bearings which guide/attach the anti-roll bar to the frame are reworked parts of the MFH kit parts M198/M199.
The complete anti-roll bar assembly consists of the anti-roll bar as such, the upper and lower bearings/attachment points for the left/right linkage rods and the two linkage rods. Each of the two Sway Bar End Link assemblies consists of 13 individual parts.
The linkage rod ends are attached to the upper and lower mounting clamps and are fully moveable (kind of ball bearing)
Here some pics about the machining process of the upper and lower mounting clamps. E.g. for the upper clamp, 20 different manufacturing steps had to be carried out in a defined sequence.
Thanks for your interest. In my next update, I'll share some hints about avoiding matching problems with the engine cover and how to make new HT-coils for the ignition system.
Best regards,
Uli

Yep, still awesome
This kind of puts me further off starting mine, because i know i want to do the same and how long it will take

Fabulous work, it's mind blowing what some of you guys on this forum can achieve. WIP as comprehensive as this help drag the rest of us along and upwards too. Thanks for sharing.

fantastic work!
out of curiosity, why did these cars carry spare tires? seems crazy.

It was part of the rules package for ages that they had to carry a spare tire and have a passenger seat.Mr.Grumpy wrote:fantastic work!

Jaykay, that coming from you, wow. Now think about the rest of us, the actual mere mortals. However, to bejaykay wrote:Yep, still awesome

perfectly honest, it does the opposite for me. I would want to start working on mine right now. Knowing that
I lack a lathe somewhat puts a dent into that ambition. Until I will actually start, I'll keep soaking up every
bit of info and advice on building techniques I can find. And both Uli's and your own builds have plenty of
both to soak up.
Cheers,
Roman
