Hi

I only managed to complete a couple of car kits last year, so the best way to start the new one is finishing a racing car: the Lotus 56 turbine car, which raced well at Indy in 1968, before suffering mechanical failure.

This kit is old, so we should not talk about fit, etc... I got a ReRelease with some basic default decals, but Indycals offers what you need, so I built the Graham Hill version. I cut off the lower part of the nose from the bottom part and glued it to the upper nose, otherwise there would have been an ugly gap. The nose is now held by magnets.

The car is painted with TS36, Mr. Super Clear on top. I added some wires, belts and a heat shield around the turbine.

Hope you like it.

I like it! The TS-36 looks very good. May I ask what color the plastic was and what primer (if any) was used to get the result you've achieved?

Very nice!! Too bad you don't see anything like that anymore...

Thanks!

Plastic was grey and I used white Tamiya primer - It's difficult to compare the colours: on some photos the real car looked solid red, on some it looked like the TS36 would be spot on (in reality the colour of the model is less orange-y than on my photos), if I were to build an expensive MFH kit of that car I would probably experiment with the colour before, e.g. pink primer below the TS36 to make it a bit redder/darker.

I used TS48 - might have bit a little bit too dark...

Fantastic build! The orange is perfect and the heat shielding around the turbine is really nice.

Great job! Yes a rough kit, but looks manageable and a nice result. A lot less expensive than a MFH version! Cheers to you!
