1/12 MFH Jaguar XJR-9LMs, updated 4/24/17
So here we go again
I will finish the MP4/5B and Lotus 77 before kicking this one off officially
But here are the majority of parts pre assembled and painted and ready for assembly
I included the shots of the special decals and the CF pattern they used along with some polished parts that will be left as is
This one will be version B, the other is prepped and in paint as well
Following my usual painting and prep process, used magnetic polisher for most parts, Bleche White for resin soak, paints are Tamiya primer, white and grey, and all TS paints, 26 for white, Testors metallizers for engine and several other parts, I custom mixed and airbrushed purple metallic
A lot of TS29 used on this kit
TS50 used over bare metal for the anodized blue
And now for the body, again TS26 for white, TS37 for the lavendar
More to come

I'm amazed at how you are able to organize and pre-paint parts and assemblies so quickly! I find that I labor over each part especially the white metal cast parts and it takes me for ever to get the smallest assembly put together. I guess that's why it takes me a year to finish one model. Well done! I envy your organization.

When I was inspecting one of these Jaguars in 1/1 at the Goodwood FoS a few years back I noticed that various bolt heads, on items that were likely to need spanners during a race, were colour coded. I assume the mechanic then had colour coded spanners maybe
Red bolt, red spanner etc.
Wonder if Derek, Icon, with his Jaguar experience could shed any light on this.
Nice work Alex.

I don't remember any color coding for wrench/bolt sizes. But I do seem to remember that when something was installed on the car and it was torqued up accordingly the mechanic would hit it with a colored paint pin to indicate to others that the part was installed and ready to go. I think each mechanic had his signature color so that if there was a problem they knew who to question.daveyman wrote:When I was inspecting one of these Jaguars in 1/1 at the Goodwood FoS a few years back I noticed that various bolt heads, on items that were likely to need spanners during a race, were colour coded. Ah, could be that then. The colour coded tool thing was just my theory. Thanks Derek.
