(Updated) Melbourne GP 2016 - pics from pitlane + Parc Ferme
***if you haven't yet seen the race and don't want to know any results, please check this thread later***
Hello friends, here is the usual, enjoy the race!
MERCEDES
Nico gets serious
Nico hit the wall early in FP2 and had to park it
FERRARI
This year there was an additional pitlane walk late in the day, which offers good opportunity to run into cars awaiting scrutineering
Before commencing tyre-change practice, the Ferrari team does some warm-up exercises
WILLIAMS
A look inside the Williams nosebox
Quite a few cars including the Williams now have two small additional exhausts; according to the track commentators they are for the wastegate
RED BULL
This year the car has a satin finish. As noted also last year, the bull logo is quite fluoro when seen in person
Big lever in the cockpit
Tyre-change practice in late-evening light gives a better impression of the fluoro effect
FORCE INDIA
RENAULT
Like Red Bull, the Renault is also a satin finish
TORO ROSSO
Not much to see, thanks to the tyrewall
SAUBER
MCLAREN
In the scrutineering bay
HAAS
MANOR
The metallic shade of blue is very attractive; the track commentators mentioned it is very similar to 1950's Scarab Blue
oops, the "A" is crooked
Let's fix this...
Perfect!
Besides the cars, the Australian Grand Prix is packed with activities, live music, carclub displays, etc. One of the annual highlights is the F-18 Hornet fly-over.
Aussie electronic band Sneaky Sound System closed out Friday's program with a great show
Lewis waves to the crowd after clinching pole position on Saturday
Valteri Bottas on the starting grid
Kvyat’s car is pushed away, having forced a re-start
some trackshots, from the corner leading onto the mainstraight
The aftermath of the Alonso-Gutierrez accident at turn 3. The cars were eventually covered up, which is the 1st time I've seen them do this.
Parc Ferme
All the cars that completed the race are parked in the pitlane entry, to await scrutineering. The podium-placed cars are initially parked at the opposite end underneath the rostrum. After the podium ceremony, they join the other cars in the scrutineering area.
Contrast: The truck with Alonso's wrecked McLaren passes the podium-placed cars
MERCEDES
FERRARI
Vettel gives a new name to his car every year; this year it's "Margherita".
Some of the cars such as the Ferrari have their driveshafts half covered, whereas other cars have them fully encased in carbon fibre
Red Bull
Does anyone here know Red Bull's connection with Aston Martin?
WILLIAMS
Shaken, not stirred
TORO ROSSO
HAAS
FORCE INDIA
SAUBER
RENAULT
MCLAREN
MANOR
Other stuff
Renault had a cool expo tent, featuring two display cars (old R26 or R27 chassis I think) in the new satin yellow colour scheme.
Master at work: Giorgio Piola, author of the much admired "F1 Technical Analysis" books.
One of the many classics on display
1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve commentating for TV
Last but not least, the ever-popular V8 Supercars. However due to TV rights issues, this round does not count towards their championship

Absolutely AWESOME photos Jeff, as always.
Thankyou for taking the time to upload and share these with us
I'ts a shame that Fujimi currently seems to be out of the F1 business because I'd love to see them produce that Ferrari.
And will someone please send Redbull a few litres of 2K clear!
Regards, Dan

Re: Melbourne GP 2016 - pics from pitlane
Great pictures as always. Astounding level of aerodynamic detail work. Those front wings are so intricate and the splitter/bargeboard device in front of the sidepod. So much wasted money in windtunnels.
Amazing how little holds the front wing on to the support stantions.
