My two thoughts are:
No wonder Tamiya did not include any engine detail in the RB6
How did you get so close to the wrecked McLaren? I'm shocked they didn't throw a tarp over it as soon as the driver was out of the car!

Re: Melbourne GP - Pics from pitlane
Thanks guys for all your nice comments Watch out for the follow-up, 'Pics from parc ferme' soon.
Dan - I checked my archive and unfortunately there are no pics at all from the RB6 or the Red Bull garage, so it probably means their garage was shut or covered up. Back then the pitwalk was on Wednesday afternoon, and sometimes the teams were still just getting their garage sorted, with not much car on display. (Now the pitwalks are on Thursday morning and afternoon)
Badun - when cars get towed off the track in Melbourne, the area that the marshalls place the car in is often quite accessible and, answering Sportandmiah's question, with a 65x zoom camera (Canon SX60HS) it makes it fairly easy. The trick is hearing about the incident on the PA and sometimes having to walk quickly from one end of the track to the other to get to the incident...

Re: Melbourne GP - Pics from pitlane
Thanks for these great close-ups, Jeff! Hope someone makes 1/20 kits of one of these cars (the Williams would be nice).
Cheers, Chris

Man.....so much for the simplicity of the 80's.....these cars are crazy complicated. It's hard to tell what your even looking at!
Great shots!

Re: Melbourne GP - Pics from pitlane
WOW Fantastic pictures and another big thank you as others have posted.
Cannot even think how that must be to see F1 up close and personal. I've only seen one race the last race at Indy.
The Thursday pit walk is something I will never forget.
