And about time too!! They claim it will be difficult to police and teams will develop codes instead......why don't they just ban the radios, job done!!!!

...and while they're at it they could outlaw most of the sensors on the cars and give the engineers who monitor them something else to do. Less people to bring to the track, less computers, less money spent with no real advantage if all the others do it too anyway. No need to know during a race how many points of downforce driver X has lost because he hit something and broke his front wing. He'll know his car feels different and can act accordingly.

I agree 100% with what you guys are saying. When the driver and car leave the pits they should be on their own. If they need tires they come in on their own. I always thought telemetry was a negative to good racing. Letting the driver make the decisions would make for much more interesting races!

Re: FIA ban on performance-related radio chatter
Nice idea in theory but surely it's just gonna be another area for media 'controversy' as in driver A recieved instructions by code. As stated, as long as there are radios theres room for instructions, to get rid of radios tho is unsafe according to the teams. Immediate contact with the driver is a priority when a car has a safety issue. Gonna be very difficult to police.

Re: FIA ban on performance-related radio chatter
The teams talk about being broke and then you see the paddock with these gigantic 'sponsor hubs' or what used to be called motorhomes. The teams would say that without them they couldn't attract as much money but without them they wouldn't need as much. It looks plain ridiculous for them to plead poverty from a paddock that oozes money. I know this isn't radio related but someone above did mention money saving.

Things are fine as they are.The more rules there are the more potential for controversy over breaking them. Just because an engineer tells the driver he can brake deeper in turn 1 doesn't mean he can actually pull it off.

Re: FIA ban on performance-related radio chatter
I agree about more rules but why are things like braking later being left up to the pit wall guys and not the drivers? That's what being a driver is about--being able to figure this stuff out on the fly...right?DiemenRacer wrote:Things are fine as they are.The more rules there are the more potential for controversy over breaking them. I agree!!! The current crop of drivers are being molly-coddled! Drivers asking for advice, what to do, how to drive???drledford93 wrote:That's what being a driver is about--being able to figure this stuff out on the fly...right?
Pfff!!! Lets see what they're made of
