Eoin Young RIP

Post by JamesB »

Just learnt that Eoin Young, one of the F1 brit (even if he was new zelander himself) journalism's pilars -that is quite as saying of F1 journalism in general- just passed away yesterday.
Moe Hamilton devotes him some lines at espnf1, don't miss them.

For those of us that started learning about F1 from those sources where Eoin used to spread his talent, it's a sad loss :( :(

Certainly different to this era, no doubt.
I remember his columns in Autosport quite fondly, for instance. Older veterans will recall even more.
May he rest in peace...

An old friend of my father, another great man gone. One of the genuinely important men in the history of "our" sport, who was there with Bruce Mclaren at the start of that mighty team. And a great writer. I met/spoke to him once, he was charming.

I remember him from his Road & Track columns, and I was always unsure how to pronounce "Eoin". RIP Eoin.

Yes road & track. The mag & Eoin was all we had for real racing in the 60s.
RIP Eoin.

If you've never read his autobiography, "It Beats Working," do yourself a favour and get/borrow a copy. You won't regret it. It also clears up any confusion over the pronunciation of his name.

RIP Eoin.
