Re: Miniature nuts & bolts & threaded rod
Wow, what a helpful post Crossofiron! I've been keeping my eye peeled for a reasonably priced set of #000 and #0000 hardware but it's never been urgent. Most sources are $$$$.
I bought some brass #0 and #00 hardware from MicroFasteners a few years ago and the quality/price were excellent. The #0-80 nuts were a bit clunky (outer dim. was 3.9mm) so check every dimension before you purchase so you aren't surprised. The outer dim's aren't necessarily proportioned to the thread dim. Most of the applications for this stuff are functional and people are more concerned with strength than the appearance/scale of the bolt head and nut.
For truly tiny stuff I've recently been using insect pins and Meng plastic bolt heads/nuts drilled out with an 80 series bit. They're super-strong in shear but can't take much tension. Mold quality of the Meng stuff is awesome. Here is a link to their nut/bolt series:

Of course if you're not looking for functional hardware the Meng stuff is great for adding details to chassis and drivelines. I slice off a nut or bolt, pick it up with tweezers, touch it in a drop of 5 minute epoxy, and locate it on the model. With practice I've gotten fast enough to do 4 before the epoxy starts to set.
