F2004

Post by BigF1fan »

Is there any rumors of a F2004 from Fujimi,Hasagawa,or Tamiya. The only ones available now are MFH. $300 plus dollars hurts most people's wallets (including mine). I bought the F2003 from RoG in 1/24, then Fujimi comes out with one in 1/20. Any chance they might do a F2004?

There is always a chance :) Question is how probable this chance really is. Number of years ago, when Fujimi just started to release 1/20 F1 kits, I've heard about F2003, F2002 and F2004 being
in their plans. F2003 materialized, others not. I'm sure their plans have changed many times since. So, all we can do is hope.

Accurate F2002 would be nice as well. Their recent F2003GA kit seems to be on pair with latest Ferrari F1 car kits from Tamiya, imho. I have to build it first to be able to back this claim,
of course. But it sure looks better engineered compare to their 248F1 and F2007. Based on that, F2004 and F2002 from Fujimi would be great.

There are a lot of cars I'd like to see in 1:20 plastic before yet another modern ferrari. On the other hand I would LOVE a Tamiya 1:12 version...

The reason I'm hoping is I would like to have all 7 Schumi championship cars. I have the 94 Academy 1/20,95 Revell 1/24, 00 &01 Tamiya 1/20, 02 Revell 1/12, and the 03 Revell 1/24. The 04 car is the only one I don't have.

Well, that's fine: if I tried to answer from an Iphone first I'd have to learn how to turn it on! :D:D
Now on the matter itself, there's a golden rule that I'd say all brands follow:
-If you can make versions of a model with minimal changes, you do it (that counts for Fujimi with their declinations of the Ferraris and then some more. OK, there are strickingly surprising exceptions to this rule).
-If you have a product much close to the "new candidate" you better concentrate on something more obviously different.

That means that even if it looks logical they'll end up making the F2004 (they is FJM), so far they have the F2003 on the market, that looks really close to the F2004. A lot of potential buyers would be unable to tell them apart, let's face it. Just check that what they've done so far are cars that look reasonably different. The closest (in time) pair is 248F1 (2006) and F2007. But then they look clearly different due to their respective liveries, right? ;-).
I'd say they might end up filling the blanks when the current ones have reached the end of their commercial lives...

I totally agree. I would love to see a couple of Tolemans(TG183B, TG184), before they do a modern F1.
Best regards,

I'm with jordan and eyckles - I'd rather see the plastic manufacturers do another car. At the risk of sounding like a BBC Top Gear idiot, I'd actually rather see a plastic, 1/20 scale, yellow liveried Jordan, just to add more color in my display case. Although, I can understand you wanting to have all Shumi's championship cars, BigF1.
