Hi,
I am reviewing the 2002 re-release of Tamiya's 1977 P34 - box number 20053. The kit was originally moulded in 1977, and shares parts with Tamiya's '76 version of the car. We know the kit is old when the sprues are marked kit number 20001!
You can build the kit as either Depailler or Peterson from Monaco GP 1977.
I'd say that the kit is of medium difficulty, it would be easily buildable for any modeler with a couple of builds under their belt.
The decals look good and were printed in 2002. Luckily, there aren't many!
Here are the instructions:
The kit looks really nice to me, I don't know if anyone else has built one, but if you have, tell us what you thought!
Thanks,
Jake

That's a classic. The white decals were rather thin - were half see through - twenty years ago. But I'm sure Tamiya has sorted that out now. Enjoy the build!

The Front-Cowling doesn't sit well when completed, but very nice Kit to build anyway . I've built It in Christmas 2003.

I plan to make the model with the cowling on the base next to it, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Jake,
I'm building one at the moment, but I'm backdating it to a '76 version using Indycals decals and the original parts which are still included, luckily I still have an original instruction sheet from my first attempt at this kit about 20 years ago.

I'm probably going to do the same... as long as you don't mind me copying!
I prefer the look of the '76 car.
Thanks,
Jake

If you'd like a copy of the '76 car instructions just PM me your e-mail addy, and I'll arrange a PDF copy, there are a few small differences from the '77 car, and of course there's the decal placement diagram too, although it's pretty self explanatory.
Happy modelling
