Post by garymc »

Hi everyone, spent part of the day getting the engine together and primed and getting familar with the parts.Haven't seen one of these built so if anybody has any input on issues i would like to hear about them.Does anybody have any suggestions on the rivets for the front nose under the body, they are not casted in.

Regards,Gary

That's going to be a challenge. Looking good so far. There was an article on modelersite.com. But I think model
was never finished. Check it out, maybe there was another completed build there. daves presented his great build
of this kit in the forums a while ago. He might provide good info it you ask, I think.

WooHoo !!! A 12th. ! Good onya, nice to see it !

Perhaps the decal style rivets mentioned here recently (43Mike?) in their largest size would work for you?

It's plain that there are some gaps to deal with but I'm sure that you're up to it.

In that regard, I'd recommend a pretty stout epoxy wherever possible ...... those are some large metal castings and they will grow/shrink considerably with temperature changes.

The engine calls out for a double handful of micro-fasteners ....... si?

Good luck with this one .......... looking forward to progress reports!

Cheers,

Hi Gary, My mate Dan here in the UK did the build on the modeler site www.modelersite.com and it's superb and well worth looking up. With regard to rivets the SMS etch ones should be fine,I attach mine with a "blob" of varnish.

I will be keeping an eye on this build.
Is the engine and transmission in metal casting too?

The engine/trans,suspension,monocoque are all in metal which look pretty good, just alot of flashing to be cleaned up.

I guess i know what i'll be doing for 2010....sigh

Does anyone else find it ironic that one of the first cars with a 'plastic' tub has said tub replicated in 'metal'?

Re ally happy to hear at least 3 or 4 of these are being built instead of sitting in someone's closet\basement\safe deposit box waiting for the price to go up. ;)
