Thanks for the comments guys. No real problems other than self-induced.

Alex, I used Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red for the red paint. By my comparison, it matched best to the red in the decals.

More to come....eventually.
Cheers,
Chris

Hello All,
Work continues on the Audi R10. As I sit here watching the Petit LeMans, lamenting the fact I'm not there this year, I'll share the latest status with you all.

I finished sealing the body. As usual, I used Tamiya TS13 Clear for sealing. You have to be careful with it, but I like how it gets the decals to settle down and look painted on. No problems on this one, and I will put a subtle wash into the panel lines. I'm a little undecided if I will polish it out. It always looks nice when polished, but sometimes a little too nice and artificial for a race car. I also don't want to damage the decals. We'll see.

Wheels are finished and ready for assembly. Tire and Michelin decals followed my standard method to get consistent finish:
1) Sand tires for consistent surface
2) Light coat of Metallizer sealer on sidewalls
3) Decals on
4) Light coat of Metallizer sealer on sidewalls w/ decals.
5) Two (2) coats of Tamiya Flat Clear on sidewalls w/ decals

Hub/Brake/Cover Assembly is complete. CF decal is SMS Twill Weave.

Exhausts are complete and ready for installation. Heat staining and "dirtying" of the tips is with Tamiya weathering kits. I've used these a lot and they are great, highly recommended.

Well, that's where I stand at the moment. I should have the body all wrapped up and in the throes of assembly this weekend.

Feedback, comments, recommendations always welcome.
I hope all is well out there and you're enjoying Singapore and Petit LeMans this weekend.
Cheers,
Chris

Did you decide if you're going to polish out the clear with the decals underneath? If so, how'd it go?

Hello All,
Work continues on the Audi R10. I finished washing the panel-lines on the body, got the cockpit tub installed, and the body/chassis mated to the floor. I also got the floor rivets completed. So far I've decided not to polish-out the body, as I am nervous about damaging the decals. I still have a chance until I put the decals on, so we'll see what happens, I may get a wild hair.
So far no major issues, but there have been some fitment "challenges", despite checking and adjusting in the early stages. Pics below of current status.
Cheers,
Chris

Hello All,
Work continues, slow as usual, on the Audi R10 TDi. I got all the body decals and cleaned up, along with some of the small details. The rear-end of the car is largely complete, just need to assemble the wing. I wanna have it all finished up within this weekend..........if possible
Comments, feedback and recommendations are always welcome.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris, Nearly there then! Your efforts on the carbon work have really paid off and the brakes look superb.
Good luck across the finishing line.
