Leyton House CG901
Started about 2 weeks ago.Decided to do the body work first as the monocoque has to be painted, declaed and clear coated before assembly can start.Using SMS cf decals for this build and MC livery decals for the body work.Painted the green intead of the decals and tamiya coral blue for the body. The tires are stenciled as the decals are turning black for some strange reason, never had that problem before.Thats it for now and should have an update in a week or so.

Wow. Superb work there.
Really clean, sharp work with the cf decals.
One question, does the cf extend up over the roll hoop? I've usually seen those painted those as black metal?
Can't wait to see more!

Hi Gary, Lovely work as usual, the carbon looks real nice and the green is so much better painted on.
Never had much luck in painting on the tyre logos, what's your method?

Looks fabulous..!! The carbon fibre on the front wing is awesome. May I ask which green you used for the green painted areas..??

It does extend and include the roll hoop. It is one moulding and not an add-on43rdMichael wrote: One question, does the cf extend up over the roll hoop? I've usually seen those painted those as black metal?

Re: Leyton House CG901
Thanks everyone for the intrest. The gloss green paint is by testors #1124 and it looks to be a perfect match to the green in the decals and the blue is Tamiyas ts-41 coral blue.I am a newbie to tire stencils and have to say i like the stencil over the decals anyday,it takes about the same amount of time just alot of prep work in masking the rims.PanAmNut gave me a good tip on how to apply the paint for the stencils as to keep agood distance from the tire and spray light coats or dusting until desired amount of paint is applied also keep the airbrush at a 90 degree angle to the tire when painting.I start by tracing round each rim on masking tape then installing the tire on the rims then apply the masking tape circles to the rims. Then apply tape around each tire on the tread place the stencil and carefully align then tape in place and make sure to cover everything you don't want painted.I use flat white mixed about 60/40 with thinner and drys very quickly, after paint has dried for a few minutes remove the stencil and seal with clear flat or what ever you choose. That is my method but that could change as time goes on but so far i am very happy with the results. The best thing about this is if you mess up just remove an retry.
