Now that the P34 is mostly in the bag, I decided to get started on number 2 for this year's GB. Now, the P34 was box stock for the most part, and this one likely won't be much different, but I will be doing a few things over and above.
- Decals will be replaced by an MSM Creation set
- Tire logos will be painted instead of decaled
- Seat belts will be replaced with SMS set
- I have some RB motion valve stems I may use as well
In addition, I'm going to see what I can do with CF and Kevlar decals for the first time - I may regret it in the long run, but I've got a ton of them stocked up and if I never try to use them then I've wasted the money, right?;
Here's the 'starter shot':
After working on polished the white metal suspension bits, I remembered the issues I had on the Williams with the paint chipping. So I decided a dunk in Blacken-It after polishing might help hide it if it happens again. I couldn't get it to turn very black, though . . . on the left is the blackened part, on the right is the polished one.
All suspension prepped and blackened:
And now for the traditional 'bathe the chrome sprue in goop' steps:
And here's the result of the bath in SAK - I love this stuff, 15 minute soak and no scrubbing, and it's ALL gone:
That's it for now - time to start the rest of the parts prep!
