2009 GB - WIP: Fujimi 1/20 248F1 Brazilian GP Massa

Here is my first ever WIP. I only plan few modifications to the kit to open up engine cover and
nose cone. OOB build, no detailing, no CF, no other fancy stuff. Just want to enjoy OOB build.

Started with engine and monocoque. I plan to close up internal part, cut nose and engine cover from
body shell and put internal cockpit part inside shell.

Below are pictures of engine mock up and first pictures of cockpit fit inside body shell.

Cool, this is one of the few Ferrari's that catches my eye - looking forward to the progress.

It was all preparations for few days - cutting, scribing and sanding. Not much to show. Got almost all parts off the trees and sorted
by color. Got to the point when "surgery" became necessary.

I found myself using blade of modeling knife for scrubbing mold lines and excesses of plastic very often. Is it just me or others
do that too ?

Started the "surgery" yesterday. I can honestly say - it was easier that I expected. I guess having right tools helps
a lot. Used P/E saw from Hasegawa and scribers from SRC. Great stuff. Only two cuts left to separate top part of
diffuser together with crash structure. That diffuser/engine/rear suspension sub-assembly is going to be a p.i.t.a to
complete. Definitely not a brightest part of this kit's design.

Next will be puttying and making of sub-assemblies before painting.

PS: Even though I haven't being building models for a while, event just reading posts on the forum definitely helped
to improve my skills somewhat. I can see myself using much better approach and following more advanced build path
more common to great modelers on this list. Still lot to learn of course, but thank you guys for great posts !

Done more surgical operations. After days of thinking I've decided to do more cuts then others. I've done straight cut to separate
exhaust outlets from crash structure and top part of diffuser. I think it's more accurate this way. Beside I don't like how
diffuser walls are connected to engine cover, so I cut them and plan to glue separately together with top part. I plan
to put engine and driveshafts in later.

Also following lead from that Japanese modeler, I've decided to discard lover part of safety cell, so I could insert cell
into body shell at any time.

I'm done with "surgeries" for now and going to be making sub-assemblies, puttying and priming for a while to prepare
everything for painting stage. Probably not much progress will be reported for a while.

I've being thinking hard about getting Hobby Design's P/E set. Looks like a good value to me. Adding P/E and correct
decals to the price of kit really makes model not cheap anymore. Well, but it'll make model better and help to fix some
issues I cannot tolerate.

That will be pretty much a step by step guide when I build mine, thanks for sharing!

You're putting a lot of work into this, the result should be worth it. Am following with great interest to see how it turns out.
