2009 Goup Build Starting From The Pits
Hi Folks,
Getting a late start but I have recently seen a team start from pit lane and end up third.....for a while. Also I have never posted with pics so you will see my WIP or pics of the grandkids with snot bubbles or worse. Here goes:
I hope to enter the 1/20 Studio 27 FW12 Judd 1988 German GP Trans-kit. Gonna keep this short to see if it post right
Toodles, Tim Keily

Wow, that worked pics and all! The tie in will be R. Patrese's #6 or it will take 6 times longer than it should for me to finish this:
Overall pics of the trans kit: Getting started, I got a 1/20 Tamiya Williams FW13B on e-bay and to start you need to modify the floor pan using a template supplied on the trans kit instruction sheet. As my Dad taught me measure twice, mutilate once. Any suggestion on the build or more important if the posting is wrong set me straight, Cheers, Tim Keily

good start. er, sort of - - i'm sure you can fix the undertray.
as for posting, if you use an image hosting website like photobucket you can just paste the IMG code into your message. that way you won't have to attach the images to your forum post and they'll appear the size you want them. this is an advantage to us as well as we won't have to click on them to see them at full size.

Re: 2009 Goup Build Starting From The Pits
Finally had a day of guilt free modeling so an update is in order. I was a little worried that the resin body might crush down on the plastic rear suspension so I figured I would drag out the Dremel and hog out the resin were it wasn't needed and couldn't be seen. First image shows just how thick the part was in particular look at the walls of the engine cover.
Little time with a dremel, a burr and a winter wonderland of white shavings in the back yard and it is a lot lighter.
Never used the photobucket so this is gonna be short to make sure it works for me. Cheers, Tim Keily

Well that seemed to work better so, on with the show. The trans kit gives you a sheet of clear plastic with a grid on it to represent the screens over the engines intakes. Really tacky, so I got a block of balsa wood and held it up to the intake opening and colored it with a sharpie.
Quick trim with a knife and I was able to press some screen in the openings. Much Gooder!
Clouds of resin and white metal dust later I have a pretty naked looking Williams. I have never built one without having everything painted and ready to go before but I see lots of you folks here do test builds so I thought I would give it a try.
