Hey Guys,
Thanks for the nice comments. The radiator and oil coolers haven't bene painted yet, so they'll be a little more accurate when painted I think.

I've done a little more work on the engine and transmission:

Engine : Installed the cylinder head stud bolts and some of the bolts. They're from Scale Hardware and look pretty good I think.
Transmission : Gave it some highlights with Tamiya Weathering kit (silver), then gave a light coat of Flat Clear. I'm pretty happy.

Working on getting all the parts cleaned up, and mounted on toothpicks for painting. Making new shocks also. Will post when available.
Some pictures for your viewing.
Feedback and comments/advice always welcome.
Cheers,
Chris

The fastner heads and wash really bring life to the engine. It's coming along nicely.

Thanks for the comment. The wash on the engine is a little heavy in the pictures, but in-person, it's a lot more subtle and looks better.
Cheers,
Chris

Hello All,
Despite my lack of posting, progress continues on the Brabham Alfa Romeo BT46 for the GB2009. Being that this is the first car I've built with an engine in a long time, I've been focusing on the engine detail as of late. Here's the latest progress:
- All the bolts/nuts/screws and washing on the engine block completed.
- Transmission bolts/nuts/screws and some olumbing connections installed.
- Electricals have been wired and new electrical box with cooling fins made.
- Oil Coolers highlighted with Tamiya weathering pastels (silver)
- Shocks in progress. Kit parts are pretty bland, so I'll make new.

All the stud bolts (engine heads) and bolts (engine and transmission casings) and from Scale Hardware. Transmission bolts were etched with "Blacken It" to darken them up a bit.
All other fasteners and plumbing connections are from RB Motion.
Both are great product, look great and are easy to use. I recommend them both highly.

Have a look. Comments and feedback are always appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris

Hello Again,
Another quick update.
I got the injectors assembled finally. Originally, I was planning something a little different, but really wasn't satisfied. Then someone recommended the Widia (sp?) aftermarket set from Mac's. Since he didn't have them, I chose to make my own.
They are comprised of:
Body : 0.035" styrene rod.
Hex Fittings : D.M. #3, #1 Adapter Fittings
Washers : Scale Hardware 0.5mm washers
Nozzle : Steel piano wire

The nozzle will be connected to the fuel pump via MFH Clear tube (0.4mm ID). I found some nice intake trumpets today from S27 at my local shop, so I'll get them assembled tomorrow (hopefully). I'll post pictures when available.
Not perfect, especially with the detail of a digital camera, but much better than the plastic blobs from the original kit parts.
Some pics for you all.
Cheers,
Chris

Hello All,
It's me a again. :D I've made a little more progress on my Brabham Alfa Romeo BT46. As I mentioned, I've been putting a greater focus on the engine and adding detail where feasible.

I got the distributor built up and attached. I changed it, as I don't like the wires to be "sandwiched" under the cover and sticking out the sides, not to mention the fact the wores are too thick. So, I drilled out the correct wire locations, added Detail master wire with distributor boots from RB Motion. I think they look good. It's all attached to the engine and the wires separated and tied up. Added the electroncis box also.

I added the A/N Fittings to the rear of the engine, which will be connected to the oil coolers. Which, coincidentally, I have also finished by attaching the fittings, which are all from RB Motion and are a beautiful little piece of kit.

Finished the injector plates, which entailed me adding the intake trumpets. They come from S27, and have been painted Tamiya semi-gloss black.

Plumbed the fuel pump with MFH 0.4mmID clear tubing.
I also added the transmission line fittings. Also from RB Motion.

I'm moving along, slowly, but actually making some assembly progress these days.
Hope you all enjoy. Comments and feedback always welcome.
Cheers,
Cheers,
Chris
